Former STRYPER Bassist Issues Call For Band Reunion
August 30, 2002Ex-STRYPER bassist Tim Gaines wants nothing more than to reunite with his former bandmates.
"I miss being together with the [rest of the STRYPER] guys," the bassist admitted on his official web site. "I think what I miss the most about being a part of STRYPER was how God's presence was always there. I miss seeing Him move through the ministry of STRYPER. It is only obvious by the fact that God always does something spectacular when the four members of STRYPER are together as we were originally called by Him. Anything we have done individually since then has been a failure in comparison. I think of the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14. At one time I could compare the ministry of STRYPER to the servant who was given the ten talents. STRYPER had invested its ten talents into the Kingdom of God and it was growing and doubling. New believers came to be, and many have since gone on to start new ministries. God's blessing was upon us. Now I can compare STRYPER to the servant who was given the one talent and buried it. I wish that the 4 members of STRYPER could drop all of the BS [bullshit] and the hang-ups we have with each other and get into God again. To return to His original calling for us. Not to become rich or to feed our egos as rock stars, but to minister like God had originally called us to do. Time is short. How quickly these last 20 years have flown by. Please pray (as I know many of you have) that God will change our hearts."
In other news, Tim married "the love of my life," Irene Kelly, on August 24th. "We had a small backyard wedding and it was really nice," said Gaines. "STRYPER keyboardist - Evangelist Kenny Metcalf, officiated the ceremony."
